Download [link] Stickies
Copyright, licence and disclaimer
Stickies is freeware. You may use this software on any number of computers for as long as you like, and you don’t have to pay a penny. There are no crippled features for registered users only, no time delays and no stupid nag screens.

All that said, Stickies is not public domain software. I allow the free distribution of the software, but I retain ownership and copyright of the software and its source code in its entirety.

You may use and/or distribute this software only subject to the following conditions:

You may not modify the program or documentation files in any way.
You may not sell the software or charge a distribution fee, except to recover the media costs.
You may not remove my name or copyright notification, and you may not claim to be the owner or author of this software.
You understand and agree with this licence and with the disclaimer printed below.
Disclaimer
While every care has been taken to ensure that Stickies is safe, non-destructive and will not lose your data, you use this product entirely at your own risk. The author will not be held responsible or liable for any damages resulting from your use, misuse, or inability to use this product.
If you do not agree with this disclaimer or the above conditions of use, you should not use this product.

Compatibility
Stickies runs on Windows 98, 98SE, Me 2000 and XP. The price of progress (and new features!) means that Windows 95 and Windows NT are no longer supported. You can get Stickies to run on these versions of Windows with some work, but you're probably better spending your time upgrading!

Download
Download Stickies 6.0b setup program (953kb) [link]

v6 upgrades

If you upgrade to Stickies v6 from an earlier version there are two things you should be aware of:

The date/time stickies were created are discarded for your current stickies
Stickies with titles will have the title duplicated at the bottom of the sticky. Press shift-control-e to remove these

Stickies is freeware; you may download and use the program at home and at the office without charge. If however you would like to show your appreciation, the button on the right is provided to assist you with that :) Thank you!

Upgrading
If you're upgrading from a previous version on Stickies, as long as you're running a version later than 3, all you need to do is close Stickies down, and run the setup program above. All your stickies and options are automatically "imported" by this latest version.

Languages
In order to use Stickies in another language, download one of the files below. Each zip file contains a single file called language60.dll. Put this into the same directory as stickies.exe (probably c:\Program Files\stickies), and restart Stickies for all the menus, messages and dialogs to be translated to that language.

Download Catalan language DLL (103kb)

Download Czech language DLL (103kb)

Download French language DLL (103kb)

Download German language DLL (103kb)

Download Spanish language DLL (103kb)

For further configuration details, and full instructions for the program, read the help. If you get really stuck, drop me a mail! I'm always happy to help.

Stickies 6.0b
where:[link]

What is Stickies?

Stickies is a PC utility I wrote to try to cut down on the number of Post-It® notes I was leaving stuck to my monitor. It is a computerised version of those notes.

The design goal behind Stickies is that the program is small and simple. Stickies will not mess with your system files, or write to the registry. Stickies stores all information in a single text-based ini file.

Stickies will never support animated dancing figures, or play "Greensleeves". They are instead yellow rectangular windows onto which you can put some text notes. Once created, they will stay on screen until you take them away. Just like a real sticky piece of paper.

Main features:

Once on screen, stickies will remain where placed until closed, even through reboots
Stickies appearance can be customised; fonts, colours and buttons may be changed, and styles saved. Stickies can be resized.
Stickies can snap to each other and to the sides of the screen to keep them neatly lined up
Stickies can be attached a web site, document or folder so they only show when it's on screen
Stickies can be transferred from one machine to another either over a TCP/IP network connection, or by using an SMTP mail server or MAPI client:
Hierarchical friends list, which may be automatically transferred from other friends
Play a sound file on receive
Signature for transmitted or emailed stickies
Favourite friends, and custom lists can be made
Stickies can be hidden for a certain period, until a specified date and time, or to wake every day, week or month, to act as reminders.
Stickies can have alarms set to ensure you notice them at a point you choose
Stickies can be transferred to and from your Palm or PPC PDA.
International language support
Stickies is small and simple, it writes to a single text file, and does not alter the registry
AD network administrators can use Group Policy to control settings
...and Stickies is completely free!
Accolades

Since I made Stickies available on the web, some people have been kind enough to write to me saying nice things about it:

We are delighted to tell you we are using your program and think it is fab for internal work. It is saving us so much time and is so versatile. (Valerie Lawrence)

I've just downloaded Stickies, and wanted to let you know that I'm delighted! After wading through numerous other post-it note style programs, to-do list aps and other similar utilities, it is such a pleasure to find Stickies! It it so simple yet powerful, has useful features rather than gimmicks, and, of course, it's wonderfully free! (Andy Nix)

Stickies must be the most efficient, simple, small, compact, fast, useful program I have EVER installed :) (Martin Cleaver)

Downloaded your excellent program the other day. It's great to find something so elegant and effective in this monolithic software era. (Andrew Fung)

Your sticky program is the best. I tried a lot of other ones but your one is the best; sweet, simple and free! (George Barnes)

Your compact and highly impressive freeware has finally made my life so much easier. (Sonal Patel)

It's so rare to come across a piece of software in the Windows world that's well written and functional throughout that's freeware. This is a professional piece of software that really works well. (Steve Chen)

I have tested nearly 20 of these sticky note programs, but yours seems to be the best of all for my purposes. Thank you for the great work you have done! (Steffen Neumann)

Stickies is beautifully implemented, well-documented and, astonishingly, it's free. We think you'll love it. (PC Advisor, August 2003)

I thought I would never begin to use desktop yellow notes until I found Stickies! (Jari Lehtonen)

... I make regular use of a program called Stickies, which puts electronic Post-Its on my screen.
(Lee Dembart, International Herald Tribune)

Stickies is the only software that I ever wanted to marry. (Peter Oliphant)
I know of users in Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Micronesia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Republic of the Congo, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenija, South Africa, Solomon Islands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uruguay, United Arab Emirates, the UK, the US, Venezuela, Yugoslavia and Zambia. From the volume of mail I get I would guess there are tens of thousands of users. If you, or anyone else you know uses Stickies, and lives in another country to those listed above, I'd love to hear from you to add to the list!

Stickies has the ability to support some other languages for the menus and dialog than English. However, as I don't speak other languages, I need help to translate the English language in Stickies! If you think you might be able to help translate around two hundred words and phrases, please drop me a line. Unfortunately, it's not natively able to support languages for the interface with character sets much larger than English, such as Japanese, Chinese or Hindi.

Resource Hacker

What is Resource HackerTM?
Resource HackerTM is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems.

Viewing Resources: Cursor, Icon, Bitmap, GIF, AVI, and JPG resource images can be viewed. WAV and MIDI audio resources can be played. Menus, Dialogs, MessageTables, StringTables, Accelerators, Delphi Forms, and VersionInfo resources can be viewed as decompiled resource scripts. Menus and Dialogs can also be viewed as they would appear in a running application.

Saving Resources: Resources can be saved as image files (*.ico, *.bmp etc), as script files (*.rc), as binary resource files (*.res), or as untyped binary files (*.bin).

Modifying Resources: Resources can be modified by replacing the resource with a resource located in another file (*.ico, *.bmp, *.res etc) or by using the internal resource script compiler (for menus, dialogs etc). Dialog controls can also be visually moved and/or resized by clicking and dragging the respective dialog controls prior to recompiling with the internal compiler.

Adding Resources: Resources can be added to an application by copying them from external resource files (*.res).

Deleting Resources: Most compilers add resources into applications which are never used by the application. Removing unused resources can reduce an application's size.

Their alteration or removal from the licensed works, and the distribution of licensed works without all the above licence terms in an unaltered way, may contravene Section 1202 and give rise civil and/or criminal consequences.

Resource Hacker is no longer being developed:

I have been overwhelmed by the interest in Resource HackerTM, the emails of thanks, encouragement and suggestions. It's been downloaded over 3 million times. However, I've moved on to other things and have no plans to continue its development. Please don't ask for the source code, I'm not releasing it, nor is it for sale. Colin Wilson has written an open source Resource Editor which may interest those looking for source code.

Known Limitations:

Limitation:
Resource HackerTM will not read 16bit (Windows 3.1) executables.
Status:
I have no intention of supporting these executables - they are a dying breed.
The shareware resource editor eXeScope I believe does handle 16bit files.

Limitation:
Resource HackerTM is currently compiled with Delphi 3.02. When decompiling and recompiling Borland's Delphi forms in applications compiled with later version of Delphi, there may be errors in the recompiled forms if frames have been used to create the form. This error is due to the inline DFM keyword not being recognized. While decompiling, the inline keyword will be replaced by object and, if manually corrected before recompiling, inline will be rejected by the internal compiler.
Status:
I'm not rushing to make all the changes that are necessary to recompile Resource HackerTM with the latest version of Delphi.

Limitation:
To reduce the size of application files, some applications are "packed" or "compressed" using an EXE compressor once they have been compiled. This has a side-effect of making it more difficult to view and modify resources. When a "compressed" executable is viewed with Resource HackerTM, only resource types and names will be visible but not the actual resources.
Status:
This is not viewed as a bug. The application developer may well have viewed this as beneficial feature so no "fix" is planned.

BootLogo - Boot-Image setter
for Windows2000/XP
(c) 2001-2004 by A. Tofahrn

Introduction
This utility provides a simple way to modify the image during the boot-phase of Windows2000 and WindowsXP. The informations used to implement this tool mainly came from [link]

Please note that I cannot guarantee, that this tool works on all systems as expected. So you will use this tool on your own risk and I accept no responsibility whatsoever arising from the use or application of this tool.

Characteristics of Boot-Images
Usable Boot-Image must have the exact size of 640x480 pixels and use a 16 color Palette. You have to convert any other format into this specification. Using a modern Imaging-Software you can reduce the color depth with an acceptable quality.

To use the images with BootLogo they must be saved without compression as a BMP-File. The resulting File-Size should be 153.718 Bytes.

Please notice the following specifics for both Systems

Boot-Images for Windows2000
For Windows 2000 the Palette may be optimized for the colors contained in the Image. During boot a horizontal stripe (Lines 416-425) of the Image is constantly rotated and a Progress-Bar is shown at Position [274/437]-[436/444].

You can change the Color of the animated Bar with the Configure-Button and adjust it's Position in the Fullscreen-Preview.

Boot-Images for WindowsXP
The Boot-Image for WindowsXP normally has a fixed Color-Palette. You can use the Palette from the following Image to create compatible Images:

An Activity-Indicator is inserted at Position [258/354]-[377/362] and the System-Type (Professional, Home etc.) is mapped around the area [215/271]-[385/299]. The Type is variable in length and always White Text upon Black Background.

You may also adjust the Color-Mapping of the Progress-Bar using the Configure Bar-Button. It's not that difficult, so I don't explain that here. You can also add your own Bar-Styles when you edit XP-Bars.cfg. You can also move the Bar to your preferred Location from the Fullscreen-Preview.

Please note, that WindowsXP seems to always set the second Color (Color-Index 1) to Black, so you effectively only have 15 Colors under WindowsXP. The latest Version of BootLogo takes this Fact in count for all Previews and displays a Warning accordingly.

You can let BootLogo try to optimize and sort the Palette within the Image, so that similar shades are removed and darker colors come first. This may give better results for non-XP-optimized Palettes. But if you're using smooth shades results may be less optimal. As always: Try it!

BootLogo can try to patch the Kernel to use the Palette embedded in the selected Bitmap. It also can replace the Professional/Home-Logo with 1x1-Bitmaps. Just select the appropriate Checkboxes at the bottom of the Configuration-Dialog.

Program-Operation
First you have to select a Path containing proper BMP-Files. BootLogo uses the own path as a default.

You can select and preview any Bitmap in the path and set it as a Boot-Image with the Button "Set this Boot-Image". BootLogo may prompt for modifications for the first time.

Alternatively you can select "Random-Mode", which launches BootLogo at every Logon and sets a random Image from the specified Path. If you do not like the Splash-Screen, which displays the Image for the next Boot, you can easily disable it with the Checkbox below.

Use the Fullscreen-Button to check out your Image in real 640x480 Pixel-Resolution. During Fullscreen-Mode you can still change your Image-Selection using the Arrow-Keys and move the animated Bar with the Mouse to a Position you like. To leave Fullscreen-Mode, click right or press Escape or Return.

Batch-Operation
For automated Installation of Boot-Screens BootLogo supports some Commandline Arguments. This Section describes shortly, which Arguments are supported. To use these Arguments you have to call BootLogo from the Commandline, from the Run-Dialog or from a Batch-File. If you don't know what I am talking about, please skip this Section.

BootLogo accepts a Commandline like this:

BootLogo [-<Argument>[:Value] ...] [<Bitmap-File>]
-Accept
BootLogo does not use Dialog-Boxes before System-Modifications. This is useful if BootLogo is used for automated Installations without User-Invention.
-CopyPalette[:0|1]
Instructs BootLogo to copy the Palette from the Image into the Kernel.
-MoveBar[:0|1]
Modify Kernel to reposition the animated Bar.
-RemoveLogo[:0|1]
Remove Version-Logo from WindowsXP Bootscreen.
-SortPalette[:0|1]
Optimize Palette for use on WindowsXP.
-Splash[:0|1]
Display Splash-Window for Verification.
-Uninstall
Remove the created Kernel from the System.
Please note, that Arguments are interpreted from left to right. You have to use -Accept first to activate it for following Operations. If some Arguments are not specified, the current Settings from the User-Interface are used. If an Argument is specified without a Value, the Option will be activated. If a Value is given, then 0 will turn off the Option any other Value will turn it on. Any Arguments given are temporary and will not be saved to the Registry.

Please note also, that you can not modify the Shape or Position of the animated Bar through the Commandline.

System-Modifications
The Boot-Images resides in the file NTOSKRNL.EXE which is an essential File of the Operating System. Under Windows2000 with Service Pack 1 the original file must be modified. Since the System-File-Protection instantly replaces the modified file, BootLogo turns off System-File-Protection when Service Pack 1 is detected.

Since any malfunction during the modification will render the System inoperable, it is not recommended to use this tool on Windows2000 Systems without at least Service Pack 2.

From Windows2000 Service Pack 2 and WindowsXP the System supports an additional Switch in BOOT.INI (/KERNEL=...). So the original NTOSKRNL.EXE need not to be modified. BootLogo only manipulates a Copy of NTOSKRNL.EXE (named NTOSBOOT.EXE) and inserts a second Boot-Entry into BOOT.INI, so that there is always a fallback Entry available.

Any modification on the System will be announced by BootLogo and can be aborted anytime.

Installation of Service-Packs
Since BootLogo modifies the Boot-Kernel, a Service-Pack-Installation may complain about corrupted System-Files and will not install.

To install a Service-Pack, you have to boot your System with the original Kernel. You can easily select the old Kernel from the Boot-Menu. If you removed that Entry from your Boot-Menu (BOOT.INI), you manually have to modify your BOOT.INI to load the original NTOSKRNL.EXE (just remove the /KERNEL=NTOSBOOT.EXE from the Entry).

Do not use Uninstall in the BootLogo-Dialog, when you manually edit your BOOT.INI to only have one Bootmenu-Entry!

After you have installed the Service-Pack just reboot the System with the Original Kernel and then use BootLogo to create a fresh NTOSBOOT.EXE. Don't try to boot the old Version, this will crash your System (don't worry, just reset your PC and reboot again with the Original Kernel!)

Removing Boot-Logo
If you want to remove the installed Boot-Logo simply press the Button "Remove Boot-Image" at the bottom of the Dialog. This will remove the corresponding Entry from your BOOT.INI.
